Minor plumbing repairs
If you’re not having problems with water leaks or pressure, there are some simple plumbing repairs that can be done at home. Shower heads and fittings can usually be replaced, but it’s recommended that you contact a technician to repair any electrical components. If you have a manhole cover, you can usually buy a replacement for a few pounds.
Do you have a loose faucet?
Depending on the type of faucet, you can usually tighten the nut inside a loose faucet without having to call a plumber. You will need a “basin wrench” or “back faucet nut wrench,” which is specifically designed for half-inch basin faucets or three-quarter-inch bathroom faucets.
First, turn off the main water supply. Remove the faucet from the sink and inspect it. Make sure you have a rubber seal or apply silicone to create a watertight seal. Reinsert the faucet into the hole. If your faucet did not come with a rubber top cap, it may be helpful to get one as it helps seal the faucet. Align the tape so that it is in the desired location. Then, using a wrench, tighten the nut and then the faucet connector to make sure everything is securely in place.
